The Ivy Tech Foundation’s women’s philanthropy group, Circle of Ivy, recently provided Ivy Tech Community College’s Fort Wayne and Warsaw campuses with a combined sum of nearly $17,000 to fund a variety of student services programs based on funding proposals put forth by the campuses.
Recently, Ivy Tech Community College Fort Wayne and Warsaw was on the receiving end of nearly $17,000. The money was provided by Circle of Ivy, which is the Ivy Tech Foundation’s women’s philanthropy group. The money will be used to support programs and students based on over $6,000 worth of proposed projects.
In an article posted on Ivy Tech’s website, Dr. Kim Barnett-Johnson, who serves as the Chancellor of Ivy Tech Fort Wayne/Warsaw, commented on the gift, saying, “Our students continue to receive significant benefits thanks to the support of Circle of Ivy. Because of the group’s generosity, we’re able to offer study abroad opportunities, access to emergency aid, and free holiday meals. Resources like these give our students experiences and aid that they may not have gotten otherwise.”
The projects receiving funding are split between Ivy Tech Fort Wayne and Ivy Tech Warsaw.
The Fort Wayne campus is allocating $800 for Aspiring Educators Club support, $1,000 for EMT and Paramedic fees, $1,000 for Dominican Republic service projects, and $1,000 for Transportation Resources such as bus passes.
The Warsaw campus is allocating $1,000 for Thanksgiving Dinner in a Box and $2,000 for Mental Health and Wellness Services.
Circle of Ivy was founded nearly a decade ago and focuses its service efforts on the needs of Ivy Tech Community College students. Ivy Tech is the biggest workforce engine and postsecondary school in the state of Indiana. Circle of Ivy works to create opportunities for students as well as to lower barriers to higher education by raising money to assist with emergency needs as well as to send students to study abroad programs, provide educational and instructional support with classroom technology, textbooks and more.
Both of the campuses submitted funding proposals. A list of all of the projects receiving funding can be found at the Circle of Ivy web page, as well as more information about Circle of Ivy.
