The donation, a Nissan Altima, comes from Nissan. As part of the partnership, New River is working to include Nissan Factory Training in its program curriculum.
New River Community and Technical College’s Automotive Technology program has received a donation of a 2014 Nissan Altima from Nissan in order to help ensure that students are receiving hands-on technical training that will prepare them for work in the community’s automotive workforce. In addition to the donation, the partnership between New River Community College and Nissan includes the college working to integrate Nissan Factory Training into its program curriculum to train its students to become capable of working at Nissan dealerships. The donated car was transported from Zelienople, Pennsylvania courtesy of Cole Automotive Group.
According to an article on New River Community and Technical College’s website, Lee Cole, who serves as the General Manager at Cole Automotive Group, was quoted as saying of the team’s involvement in the process, “We are proud to partner with New River CTC to support the development of skilled automotive technicians. By organizing the transportation of this generous vehicle donation from Nissan North America, we are providing students with the tools and hands-on experience they need to excel in their training and careers. This partnership underscores our commitment to sustaining programs like this in our community, creating opportunities for further education, preparing individuals for successful careers, and helping local businesses access top-tier talent. Together, we’re driving a brighter future for students and the automotive industry.”
The car will be used to train students in the Automotive Technology program on a Nissan vehicle, giving them another opportunity for hands-on training that will prepare them for their futures as automotive technicians. This will support the addition of the Nissan Factory Training into the program’s curriculum, which will specifically prepare students to work at Nissan dealerships.
Brad Starcher, an Automotive and Diesel Technology Instructional Specialist at New River Community and Technical College, said of the donation, “This donation marks a significant milestone in our efforts to provide students with top-tier training and career opportunities. We are grateful for Nissan’s dedication to our program and our students’ success.”
