Shepherd University joins Amazon Career Choice Program
As an education partner, Shepherd University’s programs and courses are available to Amazon employees to continue their education or upskill in their current skill sets toward a more lucrative position.
Shepherd University has partnered with Amazon for its Amazon Career Choice Program, which is an education benefit Amazon employees have access to if they are interested in learning new skills or finishing a college degree. As an education partner, Shepherd University’s programs are available to Amazon employees.
According to an article on Shepherd University’s website, Tammy Thieman, who serves as the Director of Career Development Programs at Amazon, was quoted as saying of the program, “We’re looking forward to Shepherd [University] coming on board as an education partner for Career Choice, adding to the hundreds of best-in-class offerings available to our employees. We’re committed to empowering our employees by providing them access to the education and training they need to grow their careers, whether that’s with us or elsewhere. We have intentionally created a partner network of third-party educators and employers committed to providing excellent education, job placement resources, and continuous improvements to the experience. Today, over 200,000 Amazon employees around the world have participated in Career Choice and we’ve seen first-hand how it can transform their lives.”
The program is a benefit to Amazon employees to upskill for their current jobs with Amazon, or even to prepare for a career outside of Amazon. According to the Amazon Career Choice Program’s website, its goal is to “meet individual learners where they are on their educational journey through a variety of education and skills training opportunities.” The website states that its benefits can be used for English language proficiency, a GED, work skill programs, associate degrees, bachelor degrees, and other certificates.
Dr. Mary J.C. Hendrix, the president of Shepherd University, was quoted as saying of the partnership, “Shepherd University is delighted to be partnering with Amazon to offer this educational opportunity to their employees. Amazon shares our commitment to student success, and we look forward to providing quality instructional opportunities to their employees through this innovative program.”
Shepherd University joins a network of more than 600 education partners within the Amazon Career Choice Program, which has been accessed by more than 200,000 Amazon employees.
