The agreement takes effect in the upcoming Fall 2024 semester with 15 students taking advantage.
Schoolcraft College and the Wayne County Community College District have created an agreement that will benefit students who wish to transfer from WCCCD to Schoolcraft College to pursue a bachelor degree in Culinary and Dietary Operations Management. The agreement will create a seamless transfer process to give WCCCD students a clear path to continuing their education.
According to an article on Schoolcraft College’s website, Dr. Glenn Cerny, who is Schoolcraft College’s president, shared his enthusiasm for this new agreement, saying, “This agreement is a win-win for both of our institutions. Working together to better our students’ education is every college’s mission, and having agreements in place such as this one only help to serve the students both our schools serve. We’re excited to welcome students from WCCCD to our campus to continue their studies and hope this agreement leads to other similar arrangements that benefit all our students.”
Under this newly inked agreement, students who intend to pursue a career in the culinary arts can take their core and fundamental courses at WCCCD before transferring over to Schoolcraft College to finish up their degree, saving them time and money. While taking courses at WCCCD, students can also earn valuable credentials and certificates that will help them in their career. Upon transferring to Schoolcraft College, students can choose to take an accelerated version of the Bachelor of Science Degree in Culinary and Dietary Operations Management program.
Dr. Curtis Ivery, the chancellor of WCCCD, said of the agreement, “Our mission has always been to offer our students pathways to better lives through higher education. We are proud to partner with Schoolcraft College to mark a significant step forward in culinary arts education, offering students a robust and comprehensive pathway to success in a thriving industry.”
