The initiatives include a transfer agreement for KCTCS students to attend Midway University and a tuition discount at Midway University for KCTCS employees and their families.
Midway University and the Kentucky Community and Technical College System have inked two agreements that will allow for a more seamless transfer process for students and for discounted Midway University tuition for KCTCS employees, their spouses, and their dependents.
According to an article on Midway University’s website, Dr. Timothy Campbell, who serves as the Vice President of Academic Affairs at Midway University, was quoted as saying of the agreement that will provide KCTCS students with a more simplified transfer process to the university, “By streamlining the application and maximizing acceptance of transfer credit, this agreement shows Midway and KCTCS as clear partners who offer paths for students to expand their skill sets and career opportunities through thoughtfully designed curriculum and instruction.”
The transfer agreement will provide a number of benefits to students. Students in KCTCS will have a waived application fee when applying to Midway University, unless they are using the international student application. Additionally, both schools will work to ensure that the maximum number of credits will transfer from KCTCS to Midway University to give students peace of mind that their time, money, and effort are being spent efficiently. Both institutions will also provide students with support services during the transfer process.
There are also two new scholarships that will be available for students who are transferring to Midway University from the KCTCS. One scholarship is a renewable $1,000 scholarship that is for students who have earned an associate degree in any major from KCTCS and will be taking part in an evening or online program at Midway University. The other scholarship will take into account the student’s GPA and is specifically for on-campus programs.
The other initiative put into place between Midway University and KCTCS is the business advantage program agreement that will benefit employees of KCTCS, their spouses, and their dependents. The agreement will provide a 15% tuition reduction to these eligible individuals if they are interested in pursuing an evening or online undergraduate or graduate program.
Reneau Waggoner, who is the acting provost and vice president of KCTCS, shared their excitement about these new agreements, saying, “We’re so very excited to partner with Midway University on these two important initiatives, both of which will accelerate educational attainment and workforce preparation throughout the commonwealth. Through collaborative, statewide efforts such as these, more students across Kentucky will have greater opportunities to fulfill their career goals and enjoy better lives for themselves and their families.”
