The Work Ready Kentucky Scholarship can now be used to take the Human Services program at ECTC, giving students even more options.

Elizabethtown Community and Technical College students have another program they can take for free thanks to the Work Ready Kentucky Scholarship, as the Human Services program is now eligible under that scholarship.

According to an article on Elizabethtown Community and Technical College’s website, David Smith, who serves as the Human Services program coordinator, said of the development, “Human services professionals are in high demand in our community, and I’m excited that the Work Ready Kentucky Scholarship will help attract and retain a future skilled workforce for this vital career field. This is an incredible opportunity for students who want to do meaningful work and help others. Our graduates work with children, gerontology, military, probation and parole, corrections, substance abuse, mental health and more.”

The Work Ready Kentucky Scholarship is available to any Kentucky resident who does not already possess at least an associate degree and who are looking to pursue an education in an eligible program. The scholarship will allow students of any age or income level to take up to 60 credit hours per year completely tuition free.

The programs that are currently eligible for the Work Ready Kentucky Scholarship include advanced manufacturing, business and information technology, construction and trades, healthcare and human services, and transportation and logistics.

At Elizabethtown Community and Technical College, students can earn the Human Services associate degree, or any of the five associated certificates, which include aging services, client service coordinator, direct support work, psychiatric mental health technician, and recovery coach, for free, using the Work Ready Kentucky Scholarship.

Michael Barlow, who is the Financial Aid Director for ECTC, said, “We encourage new and current students in eligible programs to apply for the Work Ready Kentucky Scholarship as soon as possible as funds for the 2024-25 academic year are limited.”
