Malone University and Fastenal Company team up to Learn & Earn

Fastenal Company, a manufacturing and logistics leader, has joined the university’s Learn & Earn initiative to give students access to networking and learning opportunities prior to graduating.

Malone University and Fastenal Company have announced that they are partnering for Malone’s Learn & Earn initiative, a unique opportunity that gives its students access to hands-on learning and networking in addition to a paying job from partner organizations that helps offset the cost of their education. Students may take part in the Learn & Earn program no matter their course of study. Fastenal Company is a leader in the industry of logistics and manufacturing.

According to an article on Malone University’s website, Blaise Brankatelli, who serves as the director of graduate & professional admissions and external partnerships at Malone University, explained how valuable a partnership Fastenal Company is for the Learn & Earn initiative. Brankatelli is quoted as saying, "Fastenal represents the gold standard in the supply chain and logistics sector, offering not just fasteners, tools, and supplies, but serving as a key partner in driving efficiency, reliability, and innovation which supports industries worldwide. With our shared values of integrity and innovation, Malone students will not only gain local experiential learning from a trusted partner, but access to a global network for their lifelong careers."

On the Learn & Earn webpage, the program is described as an opportunity for students to “gain career-minded opportunities in the field while taking broader liberal arts courses at Malone and create networking connections that will make an impact on their early careers.” Students will be able to work at a partner organization for up to 29 hours a week and will earn money for doing so. They will also still be attending their classes full time, though class schedules will be modified to accommodate Learn & Earn participation.

In addition to the compensation students will earn by working for partner organizations, the partner organization for which a student works during the semester can make an additional contribution toward the student’s tuition bill. These two opportunities for compensation make the Learn & Earn program a valuable opportunity for students.

Greg Hanlon, the district manager of Fastenal Company Northeast Ohio, shared his excitement to be partnering with Malone University in this initiative. He said, “Both Fastenal and I are excited to partner with Malone University on the Learn & Earn program to give students an environment to expand their education outside of the classroom. We look forward to providing students with pivotal foundations of business that they can utilize as they start their careers."
