Indiana Institute of Technology and Northwest State Community College ink five new articulation agreements

Students attending Indiana Institute of Technology now have an easier pathway to a Bachelor of Science degree in five fields of study thanks to new articulation agreements with Northwest State Community College that will allow for cheaper and easier credit transfers.

Indiana Institute of Technology and Van Wert, Ohio's Northwest State Community College have entered into a partnership which will offer five different articulation agreements that will provide future and current students at both institutions a number of benefits. Now, students who graduate from Northwest State are eligible for admission with junior standing to Indiana Institute of Technology, and can transfer as many as 66 college credits. These kinds of articulation agreements help students by making the school transfer process from a community college to a four year university much easier, especially when a student wants to go to a university in a different state.

These articulation agreements will help Northwest State students who are interested in earning Indiana Tech’s Bachelor of Science degrees in business administration, quality management, data analytics, human services, or criminal justice. Northwest State representatives have noted that the 36 mile distance between Fort Wayne and the new Van Wert campus will allow for more educational opportunities for all students, but especially those who live in Ohio’s Van Wert, and Paulding counties.

In an article posted on the Indiana Institute of Technology website, the school’s Vice President for Enrollment Management, Dr. Steve Herendeen, talked about the new agreements, saying, “Accessible and affordable education that prepares students for career success have long been the top priorities for both Indiana Tech and Northwest State. We are excited for this partnership because it will effectively help more students earn associate and bachelor’s degrees that equip them with the knowledge, skills and credentials required in these degree fields. This agreement takes our shared commitment to students to an even higher level—those who earn a degree at Northwest State Community College are guaranteed to have all of their credits transfer to Indiana Tech and easily move towards completion of their bachelor’s degrees.”
