Two new interns at the West Liberty University Foundation prepare for future in nonprofit careers

The two new Foundation interns assisted with the annual Scholarship Day event.

The West Liberty University Foundation takes on two new interns every year, and this year’s additions are Courtney Ellifritz and Janina Kruppke.

According to an article on West Liberty University’s website, Betsy Delk, who is the WLU Foundation Executive Director, discussed the addition of these two new interns and how valuable they are to the Foundation, saying, “Each year, the Foundation is pleased to welcome student interns who will assist with the day-to-day activities of the Foundation while learning about the non-profit sector. Our interns also provide a valuable link to the student community and help to foster a culture of philanthropy on campus.” She added, “These students will develop skills in the areas of fundraising, board development, private sector partnership, communications, event planning, database management, and financial management of a non-profit.”

Ellifritz, from Keyser, is a marketing major and an MBA student who specializes in management. She is a very active member of the West Liberty University community, serving as an RA and a student ambassador and as a member of several on-campus clubs. She enjoys reading and spending time with her friends.

Kruppke, an international student from Cologne, Germany, is studying Computer Programming and Web Design. On campus, she has given a go at lacrosse and is also a member of the crocheting club. She enjoys traveling and scrapbooking.

The two assisted with the annual Scholarship Day event in the College Union. The event is an opportunity for students who have received scholarships to write thank you cards to the donors who fund the scholarships they received. More than 100 students participated in the event this year.

Since 1964, the West Liberty University Foundation has existed to raise money for the scholarships it provides to give students of diverse backgrounds the opportunity to have a college education. Currently, the Foundation manages more than 150 scholarships.
