Mid Michigan College’s trails and forest turn haunted for Halloween

Mid Michigan College’s Phi Theta Kappa chapter is turning the school’s hiking trails and forest into Deadwood Grove Haunted Forest to raise funds for future service projects.

The forest and 20 miles of hiking trails at Mid Michigan College exist and are available to use by the public year round, but for the latter half of October, they’re more than just scenic: they’re haunted.

Deadwood Grove Haunted Forest is returning to Mid Michigan College for the eleventh year, thanks to the school’s Phi Theta Kappa chapter.

In an article on Mid Michigan College’s website, Tammy Alvaro, Director of Student Life at Mid Michigan College and the Phi Theta Kappa advisor, explained the event, saying, “Deadwood Grove is a spooky event orchestrated by more than 40 student volunteers who help to make the haunted trail a safe, fun night. It's great to see community members come out and enjoy something that we plan for several months in advance, and we hope this year is more fun than ever.”

Admission to the haunted forest is $5 for those 12 and under and $10 for everyone else. Ticket sales will fund future service projects that Phi Theta Kappa, an international honors society, will complete.

Anyone interested in exploring Deadwood Grove Haunted Forest has four opportunities: October 20, 21, 27, and 28. Each night the event runs from 7pm to 10pm.

Tickets can be purchased online on the event’s page, or at the event itself.

“We’re so excited to celebrate eleven years of fears and fun with everyone!” said Alvaro.
