Ascend Indiana, a free resource for Indiana Wesleyan University students, is utilized by more than 700 employers, giving students an easier way to find both jobs and internships.
The Career Services department at Indiana Wesleyan University has partnered with Ascend Indiana to give its students a little bit of an easier time while hunting for internships and jobs. Indiana employers use the platform to find local candidates for their open jobs and internships, which keeps soon-to-be grads in the state when searching for their post-graduation career opportunities.
The CEO of Ascend Indiana, Jason Kloth, noted the importance of keeping career-ready graduates in Indiana in an article on Indiana Wesleyan University’s website: “It is critical for Indiana to retain more college students with relevant skills and abilities to meet employer demand for talent. Partnering with educational institutions such as IWU is essential to equipping students with the necessary tools to get their career started here through an internship or early-in-career job, as well as to helping employers connect to the talent they need.”
Career Services at Indiana Wesleyan University had already been working hard to help students and graduates connect with employers, but this resource will be another important tool in its toolbelt. The Associate Dean of Life Calling and Career at Indiana Wesleyan University, Levi Huffman, said, “Ascend will help IWU students easily connect to the jobs and internships they want. This relationship compliments the expert services our Life Calling & Career office provides the IWU community. We are excited to see how Ascend will help our students live out their vocational calling.”
Ascend was started in 2017 and since then, has helped more than 4,000 Indiana residents find job opportunities within the state. The Career Services team at IWU will continue providing students with interview help and other resources throughout the students’ job search. The partnership between Ascend and Indiana Wesleyan University provides Indiana employers with a pipeline of career-ready graduates in numerous industries, which will be a boon to both employers and hopeful employees.
