Dr. Scott Dolan named new Dean of Health, Human, and Public Services at Clark State College

After 17 years of experience as an educator, with seven more as an academic leader, Dr. Scott Dolan is moving from his Director of Nursing at Clark State College position to become the new Dean of Health, Human, and Public Services there.

Clark State College has a new Dean of Health, Human, and Public Services. Dr. Scott Dolan has been named to the position and will start on March 13. He is moving on from his position as Director of Nursing at Clark State.

Dr. Dolan has over 17 years of experience as a nurse educator with seven more as an academic leader. This time in higher education has proven to the leadership at Clark State that Dr. Dolan has the skills and dedication needed for his new position.

In an article announcing his promotion on Clark State’s website, Dr. Dolan talked about his excitement, saying, “I am excited to have been selected as the new Dean of the Health Human and Public Services Division at Clark State College. I look forward to working with an amazing team of educators, staff, and partners in the Clark and Green County areas to recruit a diverse group of students, as well as create and strengthen innovative program offerings to meet the needs of our community partners.”

Previous to Clark State College, Dr. Dolan served as an Associate Dean of Educational Innovation, Programs, and Partnerships at Mt. Carmel College of Nursing. There he was the leader of a large undergraduate program through a strategic planning process, creation of new innovative faculty positions and educational programs, change for growth, and completed and attained program accreditations from the Higher Learning Commission, the Ohio Board of Nursing, and The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education. 

Other previous work experiences for Dr. Dolan include being a registered nurse in both the critical care and medical surgical settings, as well as having been an officer in the United States Navy. Through these experiences, and his time in education, he has gained skills in establishing and maintaining community partnerships which has served to enhance student admission and recruitment, as well as their transition into careers in the healthcare profession. 

Dr. Dolan earned his Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Kent State University, his Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Phoenix, and his Doctor of Philosophy in Higher Education from Capella University. 

Vice President of Academic Affairs at Clark State College Dr. Adrienne Forgette spoke on Dolan’s appointment, saying, “I am very grateful for the work of the faculty and staff who served on the search committee for this position. I am also deeply appreciative of the excellent work that Dr. Barb Shelby has done as the Interim Dean.”
