Bowling Green State University Firelands announces new grant program for students in need

Bowling Green State University Firelands has announced The Fireland Grant, a $0 tuition degree path for new and transfer students.

New and transfer students who enroll in the Fall 2023 semester at Bowling Green State University Firelands have available to them the Firelands Grand, a $0 tuition degree path.

The Firelands Grant is a scholarship that will pay for the remaining balance of general and instructional fees that the Federal Pell Grant does not cover, and is renewable for up to four years.

Dean of Bowling Green State University Firelands Andy Kurtz said in a press release on the school’s website that "an accessible education supported by a college committed to student success has always been our focus. Keeping the BGSU Firelands education affordable has and will remain our promise to the region."

Students who apply for the grant program will have access to programs that will prepare them for their careers. Students will have access to programs that align to growing fields like communication, education, technology, business, allied health, and more, all taught by an award winning faculty.

The Firelands Grant is available to full time students at BGSU Firelands in Huron who are also Ohio residents and are eligible for the Federal Pell Grant which is obtained from the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, or FAFSA.

Even if one is not eligible for The Firelands Grant, Bowling Green State University Firelands is committed to providing an affordable education experience for all its students. Thousands of dollars of scholarships are awarded yearly to BGSU Firelands students. Tuition for Ohio residents is around $2,800 a semester, making BGSU Firelands much more affordable than most schools in the state, even before scholarships and grants.
