Chattanooga State Community College and East Tennessee State University announce articulation agreement

Chattanooga State Community College and East Tennessee State University announced an agreement that would allow students to easily transfer to ETSU from Chattanooga State after completing their studies there.

An articulation agreement between East Tennessee State University and Chattanooga State Community College was signed by Dr. Brian Noland, President of ETSU, and Dr. Beth Norton, vice president for Academic Affairs at Chattanooga.

Officials related to the agreement were quoted by The Chattanoogan as saying, "This agreement will develop a strong partnership that will facilitate a smooth and seamless movement of students that complete their associate degree at Chattanooga State to ETSU."

Chattanooga State students who complete their study under the Tennessee Promise will be able, through the ETSUTransfer Pledge, to transfer to East Tennessee State University to complete a bachelor’s degree.

Dr. Noland spoke on the pledge, saying, “This Pledge strengthens the enrollment-to-employment pipeline ETSU is building to power the workforce and improve the quality of life for communities in our region and around the world. Through this partnership with Chattanooga State Community College, we have put in place the resources and support students need to seamlessly transfer to ETSU, continue their education and earn a bachelor’s degree.”

Another part of the agreement is that East Tennessee State University will consider scholarships for transferring students from Chattanooga State Community College to the tune of $3,000 per year for up to six total semesters as long as students maintained at least a 3.5 GPA while attending Chattanooga State.

“Chattanooga State’s programs offer a rock-solid foundation they can build upon at ETSU, putting them on a track for lifelong learning and success,” continued Dr. Noland.

Dr. Ashford also spoke with The Chattanoogan, saying, “This agreement with ETSU provides an important opportunity for our graduates to continue their pathway to a prosperous future that began at Chattanooga State. Our graduates will be able to take advantage of a seamless transition to a high-quality bachelor’s degree at ETSU and then on to their careers. I am so very proud of the opportunities this agreement provides our graduates.”
