Purdue University Fort Wayne receives grant via Ellucian Foundation’s 2026 PATH Scholarship program

The $10,000 grant will complement the university’s existing resources that assist students experiencing financial emergencies.

Purdue University Fort Wayne has received a grant from the Ellucian Foundation’s 2026 PATH Scholarship program. The $10,000 grant will work alongside the university’s other resources to assist students who are experiencing financial emergencies to stay in school and complete their education. The PATH Scholarship program, which stands for “Progress, Accomplishment, Thriving, Hope,” provides grants to be used entirely for student support.

According to an article on Purdue University Fort Wayne’s website, Karen Louis, who serves as the assistant director of compliance and scholarships in PFW’s Office of Financial Aid, was quoted as saying, “An unexpected expense can create a significant obstacle for a student who is working hard to complete a degree. Even a relatively small amount of assistance can help address an immediate need and allow a student to stay focused on school. This funding gives us another resource to help students continue their education.”

The funding from the PATH grant will complement the university’s already existing Zielinski Student Emergency Fund, which provides emergency financial assistance to students who are experiencing an accident, illness, or other financial hardship that could jeopardize their ability to stay in school. The Zielinski Student Emergency Fund is available to currently enrolled, degree-seeking students.

The PATH funding similarly provides financial support to students experiencing stressful financial circumstances. It can award students with immediate support of up to $2,500 to help them stay in school amid challenging financial situations. For the Fall 2026 semester, students must be enrolled at least half-time, be in good academic standing, and be pursuing a certificate or degree. Students who are dual-enrolled in high school are not eligible for the funding.

Purdue University Fort Wayne is committed to making a college education more affordable to more students, and providing students with emergency financial assistance is one way it strives to do so. The Office of Financial Aid offers free assistance with the FAFSA application and can help students and families identify scholarships and grants that are available to them.
