Cumberland University has launched its new Center for Teaching and Learning as of August 18, 2026. The Center for Teaching and Learning, which is supported by a five-year federal Title III Strengthening Institutions Program Grant, will create opportunities for faculty development and student achievement.
According to an article on Cumberland University’s website, Dr. Amy Weems, the university’s Title III Project Director, was quoted as saying of the new Center, “The Center for Teaching and Learning reflects Cumberland University’s commitment to investing in our faculty and creating opportunities for meaningful collaboration that ultimately benefit our students. By bringing educators together around shared goals and innovative practices, we are building a culture of continuous improvement that strengthens teaching, learning, and academic excellence across campus.”
The three pillars of the Center for Teaching and Learning are Supporting Collaboration, Elevating Through Innovation, and Ensuring Success.
The Center for Teaching and Learning will serve as a hub for professional growth, interdisciplinary collaboration, and innovative teaching practices. The initiatives put forth by the Center will seek to support faculty success and instructional effectiveness, as well as enhance its students’ educational experiences.
Within the Center for Teaching and Learning are two main initiatives: Faculty Collaboration Networks and Campus Collaboration Networks. Faculty Collaboration Networks will create opportunities for faculty members to share teaching strategies and open dialogues about their instructional goals. Campus Collaboration Networks will expand those conversations to include the whole campus community, from faculty to students to staff to create campus-wide engagement opportunities.
