The university is partnering with Day Pharmacy to launch a campus medication delivery service, an idea that marketing students put forth last year.
Xavier University and Day Pharmacy are partnering to launch a campus medication delivery service. The idea for the partnership came about from a Marketing 300: Principles of Marketing course in the Spring 2025 semester. Students were tasked with partnering with a local business and coming up with a solution to a real-world problem, and the idea to create this service came into fruition in the Spring 2026 semester.
According to an article on Xavier University’s website, Adjunct Professor Chris Luzar explained the origin of the idea when he first saw a Day’s Pharmacy billboard that was advertising to parents of college students. Luzar was quoted as saying, "When we were looking for a client project, I kept coming back to a Day's Pharmacy billboard I'd seen about serving health needs of college students. It struck me as a challenge our students could tackle, and it turned into a program that makes a real difference."
The partnership allows students to have their prescription medication delivered directly to their dorm rooms on campus. The service will provide students with the ability to have a prescription written, filled, and delivered without ever having to leave the Xavier University campus. A provider with TriHealth Student Health Services will write the prescription and have it sent to Day’s Pharmacy. The pharmacy will have a HIPAA-trained driver deliver the medication to the student at an agreed upon location and time.
Kevin Day, the president of Day’s Pharmacy, said, “The service is expected to be a difference-maker, particularly for students who arrive on campus without a vehicle or out-of-state students whose home pharmacies may be hundreds of miles away. We’re focused on what we can do uniquely well, which is the hand-delivery of prescriptions and providing wrap-around care. We truly care about the people we are serving.”
The partnership is supported by the university’s Office of Student Affairs and TriHealth’s on-campus clinic.
Student Mike Soprano said, “This is a huge benefit. It's an example where Xavier can say, ‘We put our students’ health first.’”
