The Delta Dental of Kentucky ARH Family Scholarship will benefit the dependents of employees of Appalachian Regional Healthcare who are admitted to the UPIKE Tanner College of Dental Medicine.
The University of Pikeville has formed a partnership with Delta Dental of Kentucky and Appalachian Regional Healthcare to create the Delta Dental of Kentucky ARH Family Scholarship. The scholarship will benefit the dependents of Appalachian Regional Healthcare employees who are admitted to the UPIKE Tanner College of Dental Medicine. The partnership and scholarship will expand access to dental education and help bolster the state’s dental workforce.
According to an article on the University of Pikeville’s website, Dean of the Tanner College of Dental Medicine Jill Keaton, DMD, MS, was quoted as saying of the partnership, “This scholarship removes financial barriers for talented students while creating a pathway for future dentists to serve the people of Kentucky. We are grateful to Delta Dental of Kentucky and Appalachian Regional Healthcare for investing in the next generation of oral healthcare providers.”
The Delta Dental of Kentucky ARH Family Scholarship will provide financial assistance toward program tuition and other approved educational expenses. Students who receive the scholarship are eligible to reapply each year they are in the program, provided they remain qualified for the program. Students who receive the scholarship must commit to practicing dentistry in Kentucky for at least one year after they earn their dental license.

The partnership will help educate more future dentists and create greater access to dental care in Kentucky. The Tanner College of Dental Medicine recently welcomed its inaugural class of future dentists.
