Cedarville University School of Pharmacy partners with Walgreens for career and internship partnership

The partnership will see Walgreens prioritizing Cedarville University students for jobs and internships.

Cedarville University’s School of Pharmacy is partnering with Walgreens for a Memorandum of Understanding that will create career and internship prioritization for Cedarville students at Walgreens’ pharmacies. Additionally, Walgreens employees will benefit from tuition discounts on online graduate programs.

According to an article on Cedarville University’s website, Dr. Thad Franz, who is the associate dean for student affairs and a professor of pharmacy practice, was quoted as saying of the partnership, “This agreement is a chance to identify pharmacy technicians who have an interest in pursuing pharmacy school. With this partnership, they can receive resources from Cedarville and Walgreens so they can consider that pursuit at the Cedarville University School of Pharmacy. Stephen Grawe and Katie Sheets, key leaders within Walgreens, have taken the time to invest in our students and school in meaningful ways. Their work has caused many of our graduates to practice patient-centered community pharmacy at Walgreens across the state and nation.”

Walgreens also supports Cedarville University’s pharmacy students through a scholarship, which was this year awarded to Luke Ayad, Princess Eziolise, and Abigail McNeal.

The new Memorandum of Understanding will benefit current Walgreens employees through tuition discounts on online graduate programs or on the residential Master of Divinity program. Those who choose to participate in the PharmD program will also receive preferred admissions benefits like a guaranteed interview and scholarships.
