The gift comes from the 1st Source Bank Foundation and will support the development of the new athletics field within the West Campus Athletics Complex.
Lake Michigan College has received a $100,000 gift from the 1st Source Bank Foundation in support of the development of a new athletics field within the West Campus Athletics Complex. The college’s new athletics field is part of a larger vision to increase student recruitment, retention, and engagement.
According to an article on Lake Michigan College’s website, college president Dr. Trevor Kubatzke was quoted as saying of the gift, “1st Source Bank Foundation is a valued partner of Lake Michigan College, and this significant investment demonstrates their belief in our students and our vision for the future. This gift will have a lasting impact on our student-athletes and the many community members who will benefit from this facility.”
The new fields will benefit student athletes and fans, as well as the community as a whole, as the college envisions the space serving as a gathering area for community events and celebrations. The college is undertaking an effort to promote health and wellness, enhance student life, and foster school pride, with the fields playing a part in the initiative.
In the fall, the new fields were used for their first games. The college’s softball, baseball, and men’s soccer teams all won their matches in the new space.
Shelli Workman, who serves as the Michigan Region President at 1st Source Bank, said, “The development of Lake Michigan College’s West Campus Athletics Complex will be invaluable in supporting existing student-athletes, gaining new students, and broadening their educational base in the community. We are excited to see how the project develops in the coming months.”
