North Central Michigan College is expanding the amount of available scholarships for its Fast Track healthcare programs. The college’s Fast Track programs are available in various fields like healthcare, manufacturing, and skilled trades, and thanks to donor support for the healthcare Fast Track programs, there is about $60,000 in scholarship funding available for students who wish to complete these programs and quickly get into the healthcare field.
According to an article on North Central Michigan College’s website, Cassandra Hernandez, who serves as the dean of Workforce and Continuing Education, was quoted as saying of the new scholarship funding, “I am excited to expand scholarship access for our Fast Track healthcare students. These programs are designed for working adults and new learners who want a faster, affordable path into essential health careers that our communities urgently need.”
Fast Track healthcare programs range in length depending on the course chosen, but all are designed to get students working in the field more quickly than traditional academic programs. According to the college’s Fast Track Career Programs page, each course “results in valuable, industry-specific certification designed to meet local employers’ requirements. Fast Track students gain exclusive access to Michigan Learning & Education Advancement Program (MiLEAP) grants, which cover partial or full course tuition. Additional financial support is available through the NCMC Foundation.”
The available Fast Track healthcare programs include Phlebotomy Technician, Electronic Health Records Specialist, Certified Pharmacy Technician, Certified Clinical Medical Assistant Bundle, Clinical Dental Assistant, Certified Nurse Aide, Certified Medication Aide, and Certified Physical Therapist Aide.
The available scholarship funding can be applied to tuition or books, and qualifying students may be able to receive scholarships to cover up to 75% of their tuition costs. In order to register for Fast Track courses, students must pay a $20 administrative fee, and if they are interested in scholarship funding, they must complete the NCMC Foundation Scholarship Application.
