The articulation agreement will give students at TCAT Jackson who complete the Patient Care Technology or Medical Assisting programs to earn college credit toward a degree in Health Sciences at Jackson State Community College.
An articulation agreement between Jackson State Community College and Tennessee College of Applied Technology Jackson will create a seamless pathway for students who complete the Patient Care Technology or Medical Assisting programs at Tennessee College of Applied Technology Jackson to earn credit toward an associate degree in Health Science from Jackson State Community College.
According to an article on Jackson State Community College’s website, Sara Youngerman, who serves as the college’s Vice President of Academic Affairs, was quoted as saying of the new agreement, “We are excited to announce this partnership with TCAT Jackson’s Health Sciences programs and create new educational pathways for healthcare professionals. Through this collaboration, graduates of TCAT Jackson’s Medical Assistant and Patient Care Technician program can seamlessly continue their studies by earning an Associate of Applied Science in Health Sciences at JSCC. This opportunity opens doors to greater career advancement and leadership opportunities within the healthcare field.”
The agreement between JSCC and TCAT Jackson is the result of a Tennessee Board of Regents system-wide articulation agreement. The statewide partnership agreement, between the Tennessee Board of Regents and community colleges around Tennessee, has been established through the Fall semester of 2028.
Dr. JacQuene Rainey, who is the president of TCAT Jackson, said, “This articulation agreement is another testament of the partnership we have with Jackson State. It creates a seamless pathway for our students to advance their education at Jackson State without starting over. They can build on the skills they’ve already gained, saving time and money while continuing to grow in their careers.”
Students will be able to use their prior training from TCAT Jackson, as well as any earned industry certifications, to receive college credit at Jackson State Community College.
