Bay College partners with Delta Area Transit Authority

The partnership aims to boost student success through a pilot program for a scheduled weekly transportation service students can use to access groceries, healthcare, and more.

Bay College and the Delta Area Transit Authority have partnered for an initiative that aims to help improve student success. The partnership is introducing a pilot program for the Fall 2025 semester that will give students reliable weekly transportation to pick up groceries, access healthcare, and run errands. The goal is to help students succeed in the classroom by ensuring they can take care of their needs in their daily life.

According to an article on Bay College’s website, Cindy Gallagher, who serves as the Vice President of Workforce Innovation & Strategic Partnerships at the college, was quoted as saying of the new partnership, “Bay College is committed to student success. Partnerships like this with DATA allow us to support students by providing safe, reliable transportation so students can focus on their education and well-being. We are eager to pilot this for the upcoming academic year, survey our students and then assess student transportation needs going forward.”

The scheduled weekly transportation services will occur on Tuesdays at 1pm, a time that was settled upon after input from the Delta Area Transit Authority and the college, taking into account typical student schedules and the typical traffic patterns throughout the day. Students will be able to rely on having transportation to buy groceries, attend non-emergency medical appointments, and access other services for the Fall and Winter semesters.

Amy Fudala, who serves as DATA’s Mobility Manager, said, "This partnership goes beyond transportation—it’s about supporting student well-being and removing barriers that can affect academic success. By providing reliable access to groceries and healthcare, we are investing in both the health and future of Bay College students."
