The new accelerated Bachelor of Science in Business program began on July 1 and offers students the ability to achieve a four-year degree in three years.
Students pursuing a business degree at Indiana University Kokomo now have the option to do so in an accelerated format, shortening the time line to a degree from four years to three. The new program option debuted on July 1, 2025.
According to an article on Indiana University Kokomo’s website, Chitti Govindarajalu, who serves as the dean of the School of Business, was quoted as saying of the new program option, “It’s the same highly respected IU degree, with the same curriculum and same classes, on a shortened timeline. We expect many students to take advantage of this opportunity to begin their careers faster. If you look at the opportunity cost with the salary they make that first year, plus the tuition savings and the experience they gain, it’s a real benefit.”
In order to complete a business degree in three years, students will be required to take an average of 18 credits per year. Some students may need to explore options for additional math courses they will need to take in order to complete the degree on the accelerated time frame.
In addition to the benefit of completing their bachelor degree more quickly, students who pursue the accelerated bachelor degree will also be eligible for the School of Business’s Four Plus One program, in which students are able to earn their master’s degree in business with just one additional year of study.
Speaking of the benefits students would see by pursuing this option, Govindarajalu said, “In the time it would have taken them to earn a bachelor’s degree in a traditional program, they can complete both an undergraduate and graduate degree, making themselves even more marketable as they begin their careers.”
