Nashville State Community College is bringing its nursing program to Dickson County with help and collaboration from TriStar Horizon Medical Center. TriStar Horizon Medical Center has donated several acres of land for the future Dickson Campus of Nashville State Community College, and in the meantime, the facility will be hosting the program until construction is complete in late 2026.
According to an article on Nashville State Community College’s website, Gina Bullington, who serves as the chief nursing officer at TriStar Horizon Medical Center, was quoted as saying of the partnership, “We are thrilled to work alongside Nashville State Community College to increase access to nursing education in our community. Our hospital is committed to providing opportunities for the next generation of nurses to receive high-quality education and hands-on training through clinical rotations at our hospital.”
The program is currently pending approval with the Tennessee Board of Nursing and the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing. If approved, the program will begin operations at TriStar Horizon Medical Center in January of 2026 during the college’s spring semester. When construction is complete on the new Dickson Campus of the college in late 2026, the program will move operations to the new location.
The new program has been established to help meet area demand for qualified healthcare workers and nurses. The initial cohort for the Dickson Campus program will contain 24 students. The program is also being offered at the White Bridge Campus. Applications for both programs are now open for the Spring 2026 semester.
Telaina Wrigley, who serves as Nashville State’s Dickson campus director, said, “This collaboration is exactly what we envisioned at the earliest onset of conversations with our workforce partners. With TriStar Horizon, we are working to meet the high demand for well-trained healthcare professionals in Dickson County and the surrounding area.”
