The partnership will provide for students who are currently enrolled or recently graduated from Ivy Tech Community College in Madison to earn a bachelor degree in business from Indiana University Southeast.
Indiana University Southeast and Ivy Tech Community College have come together to create a pathway for current students and recent graduates of Ivy Tech Community College to earn a business degree in-person from Indiana University Southeast without needing to relocate or travel to attend the classes. This will provide an easier way for students who have earned an associate degree to continue to work toward a bachelor degree without the barrier of travel expenses.
According to an article on Indiana University Southeast’s website, Dr. Debbie Ford, the school’s chancellor, was quoted as saying of the partnership, “We are pleased to announce this partnership with Ivy Tech Madison, providing southeastern Indiana residents with a convenient pathway to highly sought-after business degrees. This collaboration reflects our institutions’ commitment to addressing community needs while delivering top-tier educational opportunities close to home. Graduates of these programs embark on fulfilling careers as entrepreneurs and community leaders, with many choosing to remain in the region, strengthening the local economy and serving their communities.”
The partnership will officially take effect with the Fall 2025 semester, when faculty from the IU Southeast School of Business will teach two courses per semester on campus at Ivy Tech Community College in Madison. This will give students who have earned an Associate Degree in Business or an Associate of Applied Science in Business from Ivy Tech the ability to continue toward a bachelor degree in business right on campus, allowing them to stay on familiar ground while they learn from Indiana University instructors. This will open the doors for students from Scott, Jennings, Jefferson, Ripley, and Switzerland counties in Indiana and Trimble, Henry, and Carroll counties in Kentucky to earn an Indiana University education without travel.
The agreement will also help students transfer the maximum number of credits in a seamless transition, allowing them to save time and money as they pursue their bachelor degree.
Dr. David Eplion, who serves as the Dean of the IU Southeast School of Business, was quoted as saying of the agreement, “The School of Business is excited to partner with Ivy Tech Madison on this endeavor. Jefferson County and the neighboring counties in Indiana and Kentucky are an important part of our service region. This program will enable us to deepen our ties with the local community and allow residents to earn a four-year Indiana University degree without leaving home.”
