The agreement sets aside two guaranteed spots per cohort for qualified Calvin University students in the Doctor of Physical Therapy program in Baylor University’s Robbins College of Health and Human Sciences.
Calvin University students intent on pursuing a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree may have a better opportunity to do so through a new agreement between Calvin University and Baylor University’s Robbins College of Health and Human Sciences. The agreement guarantees two spots per cohort in the Doctor of Physical Therapy program will be reserved for students from Calvin University who are qualified for program admission.
According to an article on Calvin University’s website, Dr. Adejoke Bolanle Ayoola, who serves as the dean of the school of health at Calvin University, was quoted as saying of the new agreement, "This partnership with Baylor University represents an exciting opportunity for our students to advance their education in physical therapy while remaining grounded in the shared values of Christian faith and service. By collaborating with Baylor's highly innovative DPT program, we provide Calvin students with a solid pathway to a graduate education that will equip them to make meaningful impacts in healthcare, benefitting their future clients and the communities they serve."
Baylor University, located in Waco, Texas, offers a two-year hybrid Doctor of Physical Therapy program that combines virtual learning and clinical lab experiences to prepare students to become qualified doctors of physical therapy. The partnership between Calvin University and Baylor University will set aside two spots at Baylor per cohort that are guaranteed to be given to qualified Calvin University applicants, though other students from Calvin University may also be accepted into the program outside of the two guaranteed, agreed upon spots.
Jason Carter, Ph.D., the dean of the Robbins College of Health and Human Sciences, said of the agreement, “Through this partnership, we are excited to both support and collaborate with a university that shares Baylor’s vision to prepare future health professions leaders through exceptional academics within a caring faith-oriented community. This partnership will strengthen both Calvin and Baylor at a time when more collaboration within higher education is needed, and most importantly will benefit the students and the communities they will eventually serve as physical therapists.”
In order to participate in Baylor’s Doctor of Physical Therapy program, Calvin University students must meet all admissions requirements for Baylor University and for the program, and must submit a letter of recommendation from their pre-health professions advisor.
