West Kentucky Community and Technical College installs resource kiosk on campus through partnerships with Family Scholar House and Mercy Health

The resource kiosk on campus is one of 11 that have been placed throughout western Kentucky, and aims to expand access to various resources for people in need.

West Kentucky Community and Technical College has a new MyKY.info kiosk on campus that will help students find a variety of resources if they are in need of help. The kiosk has been installed thanks to a partnership with Family Scholar House and Mercy Health.

According to an article on West Kentucky Community and Technical College’s website, Chase Durrance, who serves as the college’s dean of students, was quoted as saying, "We are thrilled to partner with Mercy Health in this resource kiosk. Our Get Help project offers WKCTC students some basic needs support, but-unfortunately-we can't meet all needs. The Family Scholar House kiosk helps supplement this need and allows students to advocate for themselves. We are thankful to have a kiosk on campus!"

The kiosk can be found on the Paducah campus at the Matheson Resource Center. The MyKY.info kiosk can help individuals in need find resources for housing, transportation, food and other basic supplies, legal assistance, and healthcare. Individuals accessing the kiosk will be able to filter the resources based on pertinent details to their situation, such as their demographics, to ensure they are seeing the most relevant resources.

In addition to lists of places to receive help, there will also be buttons to push for immediate, urgent help, such as a button to connect someone to a crisis hotline, safe houses, and Family Scholar House's Trager Response Center. The information on the kiosk will be available in English, Spanish, and French.

The kiosk on West Kentucky Community and Technical College’s campus is available for students, staff, faculty, and anyone in the community who needs to access help.
