Thanks to the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding, Siena Heights University is offering many benefits to individuals associated with the Michigan Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.

Siena Heights University has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Michigan Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. The resulting partnership will give Siena Heights University the ability to provide the Hispanic business community with new educational opportunities. The partnership will give Chamber employees, members, and their families tuition discounts at Siena Heights University, scholarship opportunities, streamlined admissions, and support services.

According to an article on Siena Heights University’s website, Douglas Palmer, the president of Siena Heights University, shared his enthusiasm for the new partnership and what it means for the university. He is quoted as saying, “We are excited to partner with the Michigan Hispanic Chamber of Commerce to provide greater access to higher education for its members and their families. This collaboration aligns with our mission to create a more inclusive and educated community.”

The Michigan Hispanic Chamber of Commerce is, according to its website, an organization established in 1989 to promote “economic advancement, growth, and sustainability for its members by enabling access to business opportunities and developmental resources through strategic initiatives.” The Chamber states that there are approximately 25,000 Hispanic businesses in Michigan.

The agreement put in place between Siena Heights University and the Michigan Hispanic Chamber of Commerce encompasses several initiatives that will help the Hispanic community expand their educational opportunities and benefit their families and their businesses.

One component of the agreement is the 25% tuition discount for members of the Michigan Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, as well as for their employees and their families. The discount will apply to undergraduate transfer degrees, graduate degrees, and online programs. The agreement also solidifies a scholarship available to MHCC members and their immediate families in the amount of $2,000 per year. There will also be no application fees for members, employees, and dependents who wish to apply to Siena Heights University. Additionally, MHCC and Siena Heights University will collaborate on marketing materials in order to raise awareness of these opportunities.

Mark Moreno, the executive director of the Michigan Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, said, “The Michigan Hispanic Chamber of Commerce is committed to supporting the professional and academic growth of our members. This partnership with Siena Heights University will open doors for our community, offering valuable opportunities for educational advancement and career development.”

The agreement will remain in effect for three years, with the opportunity to renew it following the initial term length.
