Lincoln Memorial University establishes new College of Mathematics, Sciences and Health Professions

It is the result of a reorganization of the former School of Mathematics and Sciences that incorporates the Doctor of Physical Therapy and Doctor of Occupational Therapy programs into one College.

As of July 1, 2024, Lincoln Memorial University has established a new College of Mathematics, Sciences and Health Professions. The new college is the result of a restructuring that combines the former School of Mathematics and Sciences and the Doctor of Physical Therapy and Doctor of Occupational Therapy programs into one unified college, a change that is expected to make interdepartmental collaboration simpler and bring students a streamlined path forward if they choose to continue on to graduate level programs.

According to an article on Lincoln Memorial University’s website, Jason McConnell, the president of Lincoln Memorial University, shared his thoughts about the formation of the new college and the effects it will have, saying, "This reorganization marks a pivotal moment in LMU's commitment to fostering academic growth and interdisciplinary collaboration. The integration of our DPT and OTD programs into the College of Mathematics, Sciences, and Health Professions will streamline pathways for our undergraduate students and enhance our research and service initiatives."

The restructuring will allow for a more streamlined process if undergraduate students want to continue on to Lincoln Memorial University’s graduate programs, Doctor of Physical Therapy or Doctor of Occupational Therapy. It will also help facilitate collaboration and interdisciplinary opportunities for students and faculty.

Dr. Adam Rollins, who serves as the executive dean and chief academic officer of the College of Mathematics, Science, and Health Professions, said, "The creation of this college allows us to unify our strengths in mathematics, sciences, and health professions, providing a comprehensive and integrated educational environment for our students. We are committed to pushing the boundaries of knowledge and service in these critical fields."

Along with Dr. Rollins, other faculty members leading the new college are Dr. Julie Hall, who will serve as the assistant dean for undergraduate programs, Dr. Kellee Harper-Hanigan is the Doctor of Physical Therapy founding program director, and Dr. Colleen Bullen is the interim director of the Doctor of Occupational Therapy program.
