Campbellsville University opening new Center for Faith and Ministry

A grand opening ceremony will take place on Friday, April 12, and will include a Service of Dedication at Ransdell Chapel.

Campbellsville University, a Christian institution located in Campbellsville, Kentucky, is opening a brand-new Center for Faith and Ministry on its campus. The Center will be housed in the Turner Log Cabin and will serve as a dedicated space for students, faculty, staff, and other campus community members to come participate in spiritual engagement activities and foster their own spiritual journeys.

According to an article on Campbellsville University’s website, Dr. Twyla Hernandez, professor of Christian Missions at the university, was quoted as saying of the new Center and what it means for the university and its community, “Having the Center for Faith and Ministry means that Campbellsville University is investing in and seeking to expand its Christian mission. We are fully committed to providing opportunities for our students, staff, and faculty to grow and deepen their faith while at CU.”

On Friday, April 12, a grand opening ceremony for the Center for Faith and Ministry will take place, including a Service of Dedication at Ransdell Chapel at 9 a.m. The Campbellsville community is invited to attend and listen to the dedication by Dr. Robert Smith of the Beeson Divinity School.

Following the Service of Dedication, there will also be an 11 a.m. groundbreaking ceremony for the future Dr. James E. and Martha Bell Jones Prayer Garden that will reside behind the Center for Faith and Ministry. The Prayer Garden will be another space which will be open for the community to reflect and explore their spirituality.

“The Dr. James E. and Martha Bell Jones Prayer Garden will provide a peaceful setting for the university as well as the community to grow closer to God. When completed, it will feature landscaping, benches, and other features that will lead the person to reflect on Scripture and have a quiet place to meditate,” said Dr. Hernandez.

The creation of the Center for Faith and Ministry and the Dr. James E. and Martha Bell Jones Prayer Garden demonstrates Campbellsville University’s dedication to fostering faith and offering opportunities to explore Christianity for the campus community and the Campbellsville community as a whole.

Dr. Hernandez said, “We envision a community where faith is integrated seamlessly into every aspect of university life, empowering individuals to live out their Christian calling with purpose and passion.” She continued, “We will extend beyond traditional academic boundaries and campus borders, encompassing the equipping of local churches through conferences, research, and noncredit ministry certificate programs.”

The Center will provide a place for mentoring so that members of the campus community can find ways to integrate spirituality into their daily lives, including in their careers. The Center will seek to form various partnerships in the community and will equip students to participate in missions trips.

Dr. Hernandez expounded on her hopes for the new Center, saying, “The Center for Faith and Ministry will be a beacon for spiritual growth and collaboration within Campbellsville University and beyond. Whether you’re a student seeking spiritual growth, a faculty member committed to the Christian mission, or a member of the local church eager to engage in ministry, we extend a warm welcome to you.”
