Dr. Yasser Alhenawi named new Dean of the College of Business and Leadership at Lourdes University

The leadership at Lourdes University has appointed Dr. Yasser Alhenawi as the new Dean of the College of Business and Leadership. He began working over the summer and plans to develop the program in ways that are new and exciting for the university.

A new Dean of the College of Business and Leadership (or COBAL) at Lourdes University has been found in Yasser Alhenawi, PhD. Dr. Alhenawi was recently hired as a Professor of Finance and Dean of COBAL and took his new position earlier this summer.

Dr. Yasser Alhenawi has been described as a forward thinking leader and an enthusiastic educator, with an enthusiastic and strategic mindset developed over his nearly two decades of professional experience. He earned his PhD in Finance from the University of New Orleans, and is a very active researcher who has seen many of his articles published in top tier academic journals and conferences. Dr. Alhenawi also holds a Master of Science in Finance which he earned from the University of New Orleans, as well as a Master of Business Administration from Emporia State University.

Previous to his new position at Lourdes University, Dr. Alhenawi held a position at Ajman University, where he worked as a Teaching and Learning Center manager, MBA Program Director, and Professor of Finance. Prior to that, he worked at the University of Evansville as founding director of the Institute for Banking and Finance as well as an Associate Professor. Dr. Alhenawi mainly focuses on the subjects of investments, corporate finance, and strategic management.

In an article posted on Lourdes University’s website, Dr. Alenawi talked about his new position, saying, “I strongly believe in the future of COBAL and Lourdes University as a small, private higher education institution with a great potential for growth and creating positive impact in the community.”

Dr. Alhenawi has undertaken the process of reviewing academic offerings for potential updates and started to design a new strategic plan for the College of Business and Leadership.

He has also introduced a new vision for business education focusing on the larger community, including students, and viewing them as a client of the school of business. He will work together with community leaders to better serve not only students, but also businesses, the government in Toledo, Ohio, and beyond.

Dr. Alhenawi talked more about his role, saying, “Strategic planning is an evolving, transparent process led by the Dean while engaging staff, faculty, the University’s leadership, and the community. We have a lot to build upon, including our dedicated and highly qualified faculty, modern curriculum, and small class size.”

The leadership at Lourdes University has high expectations for Dr. Alhenawi and the work that he has undertaken in his new position. It is expected that there will be great strides in the College of Business and Leadership both in this new school year, and in the years to come.
