Health Professions Day for high school students to be held at University of Southern Indiana

On Saturday, October 28, the University of Southern Indiana will be hosting Health Professions Day for high school students who are interested in exploring the opportunities that are available for them in healthcare careers. 

Thirteen majors will be represented at the event, including Dental Hygiene, Health Administration, Occupational Therapy, and Exercise Science, among others. Faculty and current students from USI’s healthcare programs will be on hand at the event to answer questions the high school juniors and seniors may have.

Hands-on activities with faculty members in each program will give high schoolers a look at what majoring in, and eventually pursuing a career in, healthcare may entail. In addition to these hands-on sessions, Q&A sessions for both students and parents and a campus tour are available at the event, as well.

In an article on University of Southern Indiana’s website, Sean Weir, who is the chair of the Occupational Therapy Assistant program, was quoted as saying of the event, “There are several different career paths in the health field. This Health Professions Day is an opportunity to show high school students that the possibilities are endless if they choose to major in one of our healthcare programs.” 

The event will run from 8am to 3:10pm on Saturday, October 28 in the Health Professions Center on campus.
