The robotics team made up of students from Elizabethtown Community and Technical College and Northern Kentucky University attended the Vex Robotics World Championship competition in Dallas, Texas, where they won second in their division and fourth in the world.
Elizabethtown Community and Technical College students Tanner Blake and Devan Hennemuth joined the Vex U (NUKE) team from Northern Kentucky University for the World Championship of the Vex Robotics competition late last month in Dallas, Texas. The team won second place in their division, placing them in the top four of the 96 total teams from around the world that took part in the competition.
The Vex Robotics World Championship is an international competition that takes the best and brightest minds in robotics from all over the world, pitting them against each other with difficult tasks that require them to program and design robots that are able to complete specific and precise objectives.
In an article on Elizabethtown Community and Technical College’s website, Marty Sutherland, Engineering and Electronics Technology program coordinator and robotics team coach, spoke about the team’s results, saying, "I am incredibly proud of our robotics team. Their success in the competition is not only a reflection of exceptional skill but also of the many hours of hard work and dedication they put in to prepare for the competition."
The only team that was able to beat NUKE in the finals of their division was the team from China’s Shanghai Jiao Tong University.
