Nashville State Community College and Belmont University expand partnership with new scholarship

Five students who want to transfer from Nashville State Community College to Belmont University will be selected to receive a $15,000 scholarship to the University.

Nashville State Community College and Belmont University announced a new scholarship for Nashville State students earlier this month. The new Bridges to Belmont - Nashville State Transfer Connection program is available to five graduating Nashville State students. Those selected will receive a $15,000 scholarship toward their path to achieving a bachelor’s degree from Belmont University.

The new scholarship is an expansion on Belmont University’s Bridges to Belmont Pathway Programs which allows for access to Belmont for many students in the area. The expansion will allow for Nashville State Community College graduates to more easily pursue their bachelor’s degree.

Belmont University will also be offering mentoring and academic guidance and support to students in their first two years at Nashville State as long as they meet the eligibility requirements. Students will also receive access to Belmont Faculty Scholars, advising, mentoring, and programming during their time at both schools.

Another part of the partnership between the two institutions is that Nashville State will create an on-campus group to help support students who are interested in applying for the scholarship. Nashville State will provide housing events and enrichment activities to create community, and the student group will provide peer mentoring opportunities for students, as well.

In order to be considered for the scholarship, applying students must be enrolled in Nashville State and plan to complete a degree program and graduate in the Spring or Summer semesters in 2023, have a cumulative GPA of at least 2.75, have participated in either Nashville Flex or Nashville GRAD - or be an MNPS alumni, or a first time transfer student who plans to enroll in Belmont University’s Fall 2023 semester.

The deadline for priority consideration for the scholarship is May 15.
