Eight Montcalm Community College students win high honors at the Business Professionals of America State Leadership Conference

Several Montcalm Community College students have won awards at the Business Professionals of America State Leadership Conference, and will move on to the national competition.

Eight students from Montcalm Community College have recently been given high honors at the Business Professionals of America State Leadership Conference at Grand Rapids’ Davenport University. 

Greenville’s Connor Clark was awarded first place in Intermediate Word Processing and second place in Advanced Office Systems and Procedures. Noelle Kyes of Belding was awarded first place in Presentation-Team. Kyleigh Mills, also of Greenville, was awarded first place in Presentation-Team as well, as did Claire Scott of Greenville, who also earned first place in Payroll Accounting. Lindsey Olger, from Sheridan, won first place in Presentation-Individual. Stanton’s Emily Throop won first place in Financial Math & Analysis Concepts, second place in Interview Skills, second place in College Accounting, second place in Administrative Support Concepts, and third place in Management, Marketing, and Human Resources Concepts. Sawyer Bowers of Greenville was awarded third place in Personal Finance Management. 

Lindsey Olger and Mary McQuarrie of Ionia both submitted entries into the Promotional Photography national competition, and both entries have made it through the initial technical judging round and will move on to the presentation round.

Montcalm Community College’s Computer Informational Systems Lab Coordinator Kristen Diehl and Business Instructor Bill Bishop both serve as BPA Club advisors and went with their students to the competition. 

Every one of the students listed in this article have been qualified to compete in the BPA National Leadership Conference this April.

The Business Professionals of America is the top Career and Technical Student Organization for business management, information technology, and office administration students, as well as other related fields.
