Glen Oaks Community College to appear in docuseries hosted by Dennis Quaid

Glen Oaks Community College will have its high school enrollment programs showcased in the docuseries “Viewpoint with Dennis Quaid.”

This spring, Glen Oaks Community College will be included in an educational segment on the award-winning short documentary series “Viewpoint with Dennis Quaid.”

The segment in which Glen Oaks will be included will feature the ways that education is affecting the lives of contemporary high school students. According to the “Viewpoint with Dennis Quaid” website, the show aims to offer content that is both unique and innovative and that features the world’s most influential individuals and organizations.

In an article from the Sturgis Journal, David Devier, who serves as Gen Oaks’ President, said the school is “honored to be a part” of the show. “I learned that we were selected for the show due to the success of our high school enrollment programs. We are at nearly 60 percent enrollment with high school students in St. Joseph County and in the region," said Devier.

Devier said that the documentary will put the school’s achievements on display for the whole St. Joseph County area, and the world at large. He went on to go into more specifics, saying, “Our dual-enrollment programs allow students to start their educational journey with us in the 10th grade and stay with us until they complete their degree or transfer to other institutions." He also noted that students who attend the dual enrollment programs can earn as many as 60 credit hours toward their associate degree.

“Viewpoint with Dennis Quaid” is hosted by acclaimed actor Dennis Quaid and showcases education, with documentaries covering topics like culture, health, agriculture, travel, technology, finance, and business. The show airs nationally.

According to Devier, the final, edited, version of the program can be expected to air this May.
