Fernando Figueroa, president of Gateway Community and Technical College, will speak at the Covington Business Council’s monthly luncheon on the topic of the current state and the road ahead for the school.
President of Gateway Community and Technical College, Fernando Figueroa, will speak at the monthly luncheon held by the Covington Business Council. The luncheon will be hosted by the Radisson Hotel Cincinnati Riverfront on September 15 at 11:30 a.m.
Dr. Figueroa is expected to speak on the state of the school as it stands now, what his plans for the future are, and expected challenges facing the college. He will also talk about the recent changes to Covington’s urban campus and the impact that is having on the city of Covington as well as the school.
Dr. Fernando Figueroa was named president of Gateway Community and Technical college in
2016. His initial plans were to realign the school’s course with the workforce needs of the region.
For more than 25 years, Dr. Figueroa has been working in education, from classroom instruction to administration. Just at Gateway, he has been working on workforce development and diversity, inclusion, and equity. He has also worked to make strong partnerships between Gateway and area K-12 schools, as well as to create relationships with other higher education schools in the region.
Gateway Community and Technical College has three campuses in Florence, Covington, and Edgewood, Kentucky, and offers many degree and apprenticeship programs.
The Covington Business Council is a business networking nonprofit with the goal of growing the Covington business community through fostering connections between businesses. The CBC has over 400 members and hosts regular events such as the luncheon at which Dr. Figueroa will be speaking.
