Registered Nursing program application deadline extended at Kent State University at Ashtabula

The application deadline to apply for the Registered Nursing program at Kent State University at Ashtabula for the Fall 2022 semester has been extended to June 1. Registered Nurses are in high demand all over the country, with high job growth expected over the next decade.

Students who want to become Registered Nurses have more opportunity to apply to Kent State University at Ashtabula. The school has extended the Fall 2022 semester application deadline to June 1 for the Associate of Applied Science degree in Nursing.

This extension is no doubt due to the shortage of Registered Nurses in the labor force. The Bureau of Labor Statistics shows that the job outlook of RNs is above the national average at 9% growth projected every year for the next decade, with almost 200,000 new jobs across the country. The Bureau also listed the mean salary of RNs far above the national average at a mean yearly salary of $77,600 as of May 2001.

Julie Senita, Ph.D, who is the Senior Program Director for Nursing and Allied Health at Kent State University at Ashtabula, spoke to the Star Beacon about the benefits of studying to become an RN at KSU: “There’s no better time than now to begin your nursing career at Kent State Ashtabula. Our graduates are well respected and well prepared to enter the healthcare workforce. Our low regional campus tuition, scholarship and grant opportunities, state-of-the-art facilities, experienced faculty and no wait lists for admission make us an attractive option for interested students.”

The program is accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing and approved by the Ohio Board of Nursing. Students who achieve the Associate of Applied Science degree in Nursing will be able to go on to take the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses.

Kent State University at Ashtabula also announced that it has extended the application deadline for students interested in the Licensed Practical Nursing and Paramedic programs, as well.
