Lee University receives $10,000 grant from Eaton Charitable Fund
The grant is the second the Eaton Charitable Fund has given to the university in support of its David and Mary Ellen Wright School of Engineering and Computer Science.
Lee University has received a $10,000 grant from the Eaton Charitable Fund, representing continued support the fund has offered to the university’s David and Mary Ellen Wright School of Engineering and Computer Science. The new David and Mary Ellen Wright School of Engineering and Computer Science facility is nearing completion and will be dedicated during Homecoming weekend on November 6, 2026.
According to an article on Lee University’s website, university President Dr. Phil Cook was quoted as saying of the support, “We are thankful for Eaton’s continued support of Lee’s engineering program and for the partnership between our institutions. Having strong relationships with industry leaders is important as we prepare our engineering students for successful careers and work to meet the workforce needs of our region. Eaton’s confidence in what we are building at Lee is important to us, and we look forward to the opportunities this partnership will create for our students, Eaton, and our community.”
Eaton is a power management company. The company has been a supporter of Lee University’s engineering programming as a response to regional workforce needs. The company’s charitable fund gave another $10,000 to the university in 2025 to support the new engineering facility. In addition to its financial support, Eaton has been a beneficial partner to the university’s engineering students, as its employees have been available for conversations about careers and the industry, and the company plans to continue this support in the future in the form of internships, mentorships, recruitment, and plant visits.
Amanda Lavallee, who serves as the plant manager at Eaton’s Cleveland facility, said, “Today’s engineering students are tomorrow’s innovators. At Eaton, we believe investing in local education is one of the most meaningful ways to strengthen our community. By supporting Lee University’s engineering program, we’re not only helping students achieve their potential, we’re helping build the talent, innovation, and leadership that will shape a stronger future for Cleveland, Tennessee.”
The David and Mary Ellen Wright School of Engineering and Computer Science will feature industry-standard laboratories that will help students prepare for the workforce and begin to work on real-world issues before leaving the classroom.
