Christian Brothers University receives $6.2 million gift to support business education
The gift comes from Bob and Paula McEniry and will rename the School of Business to the McEniry School of Business, Education and Humanities.
Christian Brothers University has received a $6.2 million gift to support business education from Bob and Paula McEniry. The gift renames the School of Business to the McEniry School of Business, Education and Humanities. It will also support the growth of the academic programs within the school and will launch a search for a new dean for the school.
According to an article on Christian Brothers University's website, university president Ronald L. Brandon was quoted as saying of the gift, “This $6.2 million gift is an investment in our students, in CBU and in the future of Memphis. Bob and Paula share our belief in what CBU can mean for this community. Their generosity will create new opportunities for our students and strengthen our ability to prepare graduates who are ready to build careers, lead organizations and contribute to the city we all call home.”
Bob McEniry, who is a Christian Brothers University Trustee Emeritus and the former chairman of nexAir, said of his and Paula’s decision to give to the university, “CBU has always been an important part of Memphis. It gives talented students the opportunity to earn an outstanding education here, build their careers here and become leaders in the companies and organizations that move our community forward. Paula and I believe deeply in CBU’s mission, and we are proud to invest in a School of Business that can help prepare the next generation of leaders Memphis needs.”
Among the efforts that will be funded by the McEnirys’ gift are the growth of the Master of Business Administration and accounting programs, the launch of a national search for a dean to guide the McEniry School of Business, Education and Humanities, and the continued pursuit of opportunities to strengthen the reputation of the programs within the School. The School will also continue to pursue relationships with employers and the broader business community to create opportunities for students to gain professional experience during their education.
Matthew Domas, the university’s Vice President for Academic Affairs, said, “This gift will expand what is possible for our students and faculty. It will help us build on the strengths of our programs, respond to the needs of the Memphis business community and give students the foundation they need to lead with purpose and integrity.”
