Marian University breaks ground on Center for Human Flourishing

The $72 million facility will help advance the Klipsch Educators College and healthcare education at the university, as well as serve as the anchor of the university’s $102 million investment in Indianapolis.

Marian University has broken ground on its new Center for Human Flourishing, which is expected to open in the Fall 2028 semester. The Center for Human Flourishing will combine teacher preparation, healthcare education, and medical innovation to promote a unified academic environment and interdisciplinary collaboration. The $72 million Center for Human Flourishing is a piece of the larger $102 million investment the university is making in Indianapolis that seeks to advance educational attainment and health outcomes.

According to an article on Marian University’s website, Daniel J. Elsener, the president of Marian University, was quoted as saying of the new facility, "The Center for Human Flourishing is a transformational investment in Marian University and the future of Indiana. This Center will enable us to expand research, drive innovation to address critical workforce shortages, and contribute mightily to our unflagging mission of advancing human flourishing."

The Center for Human Flourishing represents the university’s commitment to advancing the region through education, community partnerships, and workforce preparation. The new on-campus center will span 95,000 square feet adjacent to the existing Julie Wood College of Osteopathic Medicine. The facility will feature classrooms, laboratories, lecture halls, and meeting areas.

In addition to the Center for Human Flourishing, the university is also investing $30 million in the former Larue D. Carter Hospital, which will be renamed The Grove at Cold Spring, to become a community education district. This site will be a 160,000 square foot facility that will open in the summer of 2027.

Together, these two new spaces will be home to Klipsch Educators College and its Center for Vibrant Schools, the Occupational Therapy and Physical Therapy programs, and the administrative center of the Crossroads Academic Medical Institute.
