High school students who are dual-enrolled at Tennessee Wesleyan University can now take up to 10 college courses tuition-free, up from the five free courses they could previously take.
Tennessee Wesleyan University has expanded its dual enrollment program. High school students who are dual-enrolled at Tennessee Wesleyan University can now take up to 10 college courses at the university for free. This is an increase from the previous five free courses that were available to high schoolers.
According to an article on Tennessee Wesleyan University’s website, Kacy McMahan, who serves as the university’s Coordinator of Enrollment Communications and Dual Enrollment, was quoted as saying of the change, “Expanding tuition-free dual enrollment opportunities reflects Tennessee Wesleyan’s commitment to making higher education more accessible and affordable for students across our region. We want students to get a head start on their college journey without the burden of cost.”
The State of Tennessee’s Dual Enrollment Grant covers the costs of the first five courses a high schooler takes as a dual-enrolled college student. Tennessee Wesleyan University has decided to take on the costs of giving these students an additional five courses for free, meaning high schoolers who are dual-enrolled at Tennessee Wesleyan University may complete 10 college courses tuition-free. To take advantage of the five additional free courses provided by the university, the student must remain eligible for the Dual Enrollment Grant.
Tennessee Wesleyan University’s dual enrollment program is a flexible option for high school students to get a head start on their college education. Students can take their tuition-free courses online, on the university’s campus, or at their high school. Students will have access to the university’s amenities, like the library, fitness center, success coaches, and advising services. The course credits earned through the dual enrollment program are transferable to other colleges and universities.
Among the courses students are able to take as a dual-enrolled student are Anatomy & Physiology, Composition, Criminal Justice, Algebra, Calculus, Psychology, Graphic Design, Art Appreciation, Nutrition, Political Science, and more.
