The new program will launch with the Fall 2026 semester and will award graduates with an associate of science degree pathway in Healthcare Administration.
Henry Ford College is introducing a new Healthcare Administration associate of science degree program with the upcoming Fall 2026 semester. The program will be housed within the college’s School of Health and Human Services and will give students the ability to prepare for entry level positions in healthcare administration.
According to an article on Henry Ford College’s website, Dr. Cristina Bailey, who serves as the Director of Health, Education, and Human Services at the college, was quoted as saying of the new program, “We developed this program in direct response to a healthcare sector in high demand. With the Department of Labor projecting a job growth rate exceeding 30% over the next five years, we’ve strategically leveraged our expert faculty and curriculum to build this pathway. By securing seamless transfer agreements with four-year universities, we are providing our students with a clear, efficient route to a bachelor’s degree and long-term career success. (HHS Dean) Dr. Cyndi Scheuer and I are thrilled to introduce this new program. Beyond our existing partnerships with Eastern Michigan University and Davenport University, we look forward to announcing further transfer partnership agreements. With a surging demand for expertise on the business side of healthcare, this program offers a vital pathway for career changers and current professionals seeking to specialize or advance. The possibilities in this field are truly vast.”
Healthcare administration is a field that encompasses many areas of keeping a healthcare center running smoothly, including operations, finances, human resources, strategic planning, information technology, and electronic health records, among other duties. The types of roles within healthcare administration are Hospital Administrator, Clinic Manager, Healthcare Consultant, Health Services Manager, Nursing Home Administrator, Health Information Manager, Practice Manager, and Director of Operations.
Entry level positions in healthcare administration include Patient Services Representative or Health Information Technician and there is potential for growth in the field, in both role and salary.
Bailey noted, “Healthcare administration often provides higher starting salaries than many other sectors in the industry.”
