The two new articulation agreements will provide clear transfer pathways for various computing degrees.
Grand Valley State University and Grand Rapids Community College have formed a partnership via two new articulation agreements that will assist students in achieving a bachelor degree in various computing fields. Students who earn an associate degree in one of four computing areas from Grand Rapids Community College can transfer into a bachelor degree program in cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, software engineering, or computer science at Grand Valley State University.
According to an article on Grand Valley State University’s website, Marouane Kessentini, who serves as the dean of the College of Computing at the university, was quoted as saying of the partnership and its benefits to students, “These agreements reflect GVSU’s strong commitment to access, affordability and student success. By creating these pathways from GRCC into high-demand computing programs at GVSU, we are removing uncertainty for students and helping them move efficiently toward a bachelor’s degree. These agreements open the door for more students to pursue advanced computing careers while staying on a clear, supported academic path from day one. For students, this means their coursework transfers seamlessly, their time to degree is reduced and the overall cost of earning a GVSU degree is lowered.”
Grand Valley State University and Grand Rapids Community College have signed two articulation agreements that will run from Fall 2026 through August 2029. These agreements allow for students who have completed an associate degree from Grand Rapids Community College to transfer credits to Grand Valley State University to pursue a bachelor degree in cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, software engineering, or computer science.
The agreements allow for students to complete up to 75 of their credits at Grand Rapids Community College before transferring to the university for their remaining credits. Per the agreements, at least 45 credits must be completed at Grand Valley State University, though those credits may be completed online in order to create a more accessible and flexible experience for students.
