Nashville State Community College partners with MedCerts for healthcare training

The partnership will give students access to online healthcare career certifications that will help address the area’s healthcare workforce shortages.

Nashville State Community College and MedCerts have partnered to increase access to online healthcare career certifications that will work to improve healthcare workforce shortages in the area. Through the partnership, students will have access to fast-track healthcare certifications that will give them the skills they need to fill gaps in the region’s patient care capabilities.

According to an article on Nashville State Community College’s website, John Cunningham, who serves as the director of healthcare partnerships at Nashville State Community College’s Center for Workforce Development and Continuing Education, was quoted as saying of the new partnership, “Nashville State is excited to offer students a new opportunity to pursue a career in healthcare that may not have been previously out of reach. Together with MedCerts, we will strengthen the talent pool that regional employers rely on, better support trainees, and offer higher-quality patient care to our community.”

Tennessee is experiencing a shortage of healthcare workers, which has created significant gaps across most areas of patient care, including in mental health, primary care, and dental care. The partnership with MedCerts, which provides fast-track online healthcare certifications, will help close those gaps, by giving more students in Tennessee access to training that will get them into in-demand and well-paying healthcare careers.

As listed on MedCerts’ website, the courses Nashville State Community College students will have access to include Allied Healthcare Professional, Cardio-Phlebotomy Technician, Behavior Technician Specialist, Dental Assistant, EKG Technician, Medical Assistant, Geriatric Medical Assistant, Medical Scribe Professional, Mental Health Support Professional, Phlebotomy Technician, Professional Caregiver, and more.

Jen Kolb, who serves as the vice president of partnerships and workforce development at MedCerts, said, “We’re preparing students for meaningful careers in healthcare. By connecting training with real workforce opportunities, we’re supporting local healthcare organizations with well-prepared professionals who can make an immediate difference.”
