Miami University partners with Northeast Ohio Medical University for Miami Northeast Ohio Nursing Program

The partnership will result in a 24-month intensive program for students pursuing a bachelor degree in nursing.

Miami University and Northeast Ohio Medical University have formed a partnership that will create a new program for students who are pursuing a bachelor degree in nursing. The Miami Northeast Ohio Nursing Program is a 24-month intensive nursing program that will supply students with hands-on coursework and multiple points of program entry to ensure a pipeline of qualified nurses will be entering the workforce in Northeast Ohio.

According to an article on Miami University’s website, Stephanie Nicely, who serves as the chair and and an associate professor of Nursing, was quoted as saying of the new partnership, “This is a unique opportunity for our Nursing students to receive advanced, hands-on experience with a top healthcare system and provides a definite roadmap to a Miami degree and future success. Miami graduates of the Northeast Ohio Nursing Cohort will strengthen the talent pipeline by developing high quality nurses to meet healthcare partner needs.”

The new program is expected to begin in the Fall 2027 semester. Students will be able to enter into the program via three different pathways. The first pathway is through direct admission into Miami University, with the student planning to enter Northeast Ohio Medical University. The second pathway is via direct admission to qualified high school students who have completed the Ohio Transfer 36 and required nursing prerequisites. The final pathway is via a designated transfer pathway.

Following their acceptance into the program, students will begin taking courses and experiencing clinical rotations in the Northeast Ohio region, with classes occurring in Cleveland and taught by Miami University faculty.

Gregory Crawford, the president of Miami University, said of the partnership, “Our partnerships with NEOMED and Northeast Ohio healthcare partners blend the academic strength of Miami University with healthcare excellence. Our students will obtain crucial and intensive real-world training that will benefit the healthcare system in Ohio for years to come.”

Northeast Ohio Medical University, or NEOMED, also recently established a partnership with Miami University and The Christ Hospital Health Network of Cincinnati to create pathways for individuals to become doctors, further improving the region’s healthcare workforce.
