University of the Cumberlands partners with virtual mental health care provider for enhanced student support

The university has partnered with TimelyCare to provide students with resources like 24/7 emotional and mental health support, health coaching, and basic needs assistance, among others.

The University of the Cumberlands has formed a partnership with TimelyCare that will give students and faculty members access to enhanced mental health services and 24/7 mental health and emotional support. The partnership will extend the reach of the university’s existing campus health and counseling center resources, in some cases collaborating in a hybrid manner to provide students with more extensive support.

According to an article on the University of the Cumberlands’ website, Gina Bowlin, who serves as the director of behavioral health at the university, was quoted as saying of the partnership, “We’re excited to partner with TimelyCare to offer comprehensive behavioral health services to students and employees in all 50 states. The platform’s ease of use, convenience, and immediate access to care make it easier than ever for our students and employees to find support when they need it.”

TimelyCare will be available to students 24/7 through their phone or computer. They will be able to access support from licensed counselors who can provide on-demand mental health assistance, appointment-based counseling, coaching, assistance with basic needs, self care content, and more. These services are provided to students at no cost, and no insurance is necessary to receive care.

The goal of the partnership is to improve students’ health and well being, and ultimately contribute to increased student retention rates and engagement on campus. Faculty and staff members will also receive lessons through TimelyCare that will help them assist students in need.

Luke Hejl, who is the CEO and co-founder of TimelyCare, said, “With more than seven out of 10 students reporting that they experience mental health challenges such as stress, anxiety or depression, expanded access to virtual health and well-being interventions like TimelyCare has never been more important. Ultimately, supporting students, educators, and staff means providing access to care whenever and wherever they need it.”
