The Interdisciplinary Health Fair event will be held on December 4 and will provide students in kindergarten through 12th grade with free health education and screenings.
Cedarville University is hosting an Interdisciplinary Health Fair on December 4, 2025. The event, which is led by the School of Nursing, will give local students in kindergarten through 12th grade the opportunity to learn about health and receive free health screenings from university students in the athletic training, education, pharmacy, psychology, and social work programs, an opportunity for Cedarville students to receive unique hands-on training.
According to an article on Cedarville University’s website, Dr. Michele Dodds, who serves as an assistant professor of nursing, was quoted as saying of the event, “The Interdisciplinary Health Fair serves to provide evidence-based health education, learning activities for students, screenings and preventive care resources for students and families. By participating, school-age students not only gain valuable knowledge but also contribute to the development of compassionate, competent future professionals.”
The event, which will be held from 9am to 3pm in the Stevens Student Center event rooms, will be beneficial in several ways. The Cedarville University students who participate in the hosting of the event will be able to work on their leadership, communication, and public health skills by leading K-12 students through the educational booths and health screenings. The K-12 students who participate will receive free health education and free health screenings, and will be introduced to the idea of healthcare as a potential future career.
The event will include free vision tests and blood pressure checks. The K-12 participants will also view handswashing demonstrations, learn how to prepare healthy snacks, participate in fitness challenges, and learn about online safety, mental health, and stress management.
Dr. Angelia Mickle, the dean of the Cedarville University School of Nursing, said, “Cedarville students will further develop leadership qualities that strengthen their communication, teamwork and teaching skills while reinforcing their clinical and public health knowledge. We hope that the young attendees leave the fair with a stronger conviction on taking care of their health. Whether it be building healthy eating habits or prioritizing preventative care, we desire for students to see health care as an extension of Christ’s love and care for his people.”
