The gift will be used to establish an endowed scholarship to support students who are pursuing energy-related education.
Southcentral Kentucky Community and Technical College has a new endowed scholarship available thanks to a $50,000 gift from Atmos Energy. The money will be matched via the Kentucky Community & Technical College System (KCTCS) Endowment Match Program, meaning that the total impact of the gift is $100,000 for students who are studying in an energy-related field.
According to an article on Southcentral Kentucky Community and Technical College’s website, Heather Rogers, who serves as the Vice President of Resource Development and as the Executive Director of the SKYCTC Foundation, was quoted as saying of the gift, “We are profoundly grateful to Atmos Energy for establishing this $50,000 scholarship endowment. Their generosity will provide lasting support for students in our technical programs, helping them access high-quality education and workforce training. This endowment represents a long-term investment in the success of our students and the future of our region.”
The scholarship has been established to bolster the region’s energy workforce, with the funding available to assist students who are studying related fields like welding, electrical, and HVAC. Students will be able to use the scholarship funds for tuition, books, or course materials needed to complete their education.
Atmos Energy is a natural gas distribution company that provides energy in Colorado, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Tennessee, Texas, and Virginia.
